Used it for years Nov 29, 2008
By Brian E. Coe I've been using this penlight for over 10 years, first as a student and then as a professional optometrist. It's solid, bright and easy. The thumb switch on the end is easy and sure. It's not much heavier than a fancy pen and about the same size.
I've only ever had to replace it once, after breaking the switch on my first one after about seven years. The current one is going strong.
My only complaint is that it's not available in an LED form yet to extend the battery life.

By K. M. Kemp great penlight to have in your pocket. this should last a long time. its very well built. an LED version would be cool, but this is plenty bright enough. just dont let one of your colleagues accidentally acquire yours

Great light with a fatal design flaw Jan 06, 2012
By That's CrazyTalk! I have owned three of these penlights. I like the weight of the penlight. It feels very sturdy. The halogen bulb is bright and the switch is easy to use. However, there is an unforgivable flaw with this product. The switch is attached to the metal body by a threaded plastic flange. Each of these has just snapped off in my hand when turning the light on. The first one was after 6 months of daily use in an optometry office. It was replaced under the warranty. The replacement did the same thing at about 9 months. I liked the light enough to buy another one, but alas 13 months later it met the same fate and is past the one year warranty. Now I have to decide if I like it enough to spend $50 on it every year, essentially. I think I will look for another option.

Professional look for a medical professional Jan 31, 2011
By Patricia A Chafian There are many cheap models of penlites. You get what you pay for. This is a very sturdy and long lasting penlite. I had one exactly like this and it lasted 10 years until I dropped it on the hospital floor and it broke. Make sure you do not loan this out as you have to actively get it back. Can order parts and uses batteries. Will give years of excellent use. When mine broke it is the only one to replace it with. Once you have had the best, nothing else will do.

Best penlight Jul 18, 2010
By Eric I am a physician (internal medicine and pediatrics) and have been using many different penlights, but this one is a keeper. It provides very bright illumination and does not accidently turn on when in your pocket. Don't get sold on LED lights, this one works so much better. I only wish that the on/off switch was not a green color, but otherwise a reliable light source with solid construction. Well worth your money.
