Good tool, but unnecessary Dec 25, 2010
By Brentford Clarke

I already own the "grid" foam roller from Trigger Point therapy. I was expecting this product to be substantially firmer. It has the consistency that is just firmer than that of a new tennis ball. It does work well on the front and side of your leg, but has issues with the underside due to it's lower profile than the foam roller. I love their foam roller and highly recommend that along with one or two lacrosse balls (they're cheaper and just as effective as the TP ones) from your local sports store. Unfortunately, since I own the previously mentioned products I find this one somewhat unnecessary.

Gets the job done Oct 14, 2011

At first sight, it might seem a lot to pay for a couple of skateboard wheels, but in my opinion this was a really good value purchase. The TP quadballer is well made and likely to last for years. So provided you use it regularly you will easily get your money's worth.
I don't consider this to be a replacement for a foam roller (the single most important piece of kit I use while working out!). Rather, its an addition that really effectively targets problem areas, such as tight IT bands. The shape of the quadballer seems to be ideal for focusing pressure on the right spots, and unlike a foam roller it does it gently and relatively painlessly.
Bottom line: It seems expensive, but if it lets you run/cycle/walk more freely than you would otherwise its worth 10 x the price!

good product, but could be improved Feb 09, 2010

This is significantly stiffer than a foam roller and is really good for rolling out your IT band. However, the size of the roller is the draw back. A foam roller is easier to use because of the (around) 6 inch lift of the ground. This is more difficult to use because of how low you are to the ground. That said it soothes my IT band and works wonders if you do not like the give in a foam roller.

Great product that needs more instructions. Jun 23, 2011
By Sean I was extremely skeptical about paying $60 for this thing. But my runner's knee had really been acting up and ice, heat, ibuprofen, and rest were not working. So I thought, why not give this a try. I have to say it has made a remarkable difference in just a few days. I rolled it (using my body weight) under the back of my hamstrings and knees. This was not a method that was in the instructions, but it seems to work great for my knee problem.
Before purchasing, I read that other reviewers said there were no instructions for use. Mine did come with some instructions, but it was merely a pamphlet briefly describing the exercises. It appears that the company that makes this wants to trick you into buying their "online training service" even after laying out good money for this item. At any rate, there are some videos on YouTube that will explain it more clearly.

More aggressive than a foam roller! Apr 10, 2012
By Shannon Kobashigawa

Trigger point performance has made the self massaging industry a little more cooler! I think everyone should do self massage and trigger point release. The quadballer roller is an excellent tool for your lower legs. I have found that it is more aggressive than a foam roller so those that are new to this, the pain might deter you away from regular use. I also noticed that the rounded shape helps to "dig in" deeper into the muscle tissue and I really noticed it when I roll my hamstring. (Foam rollers are flat so there isn't as much pressure in the center of the leg). The product line is pretty cool but I don't really think you need the smaller version of this to do anything below the knee -- save your money. Buy this one and do both upper and lower legs. I wouldn't necessarily say that this replaces a foam roller because every tool has different purposes. The small size and portability is a huge plus! Another tip, I use a lacrosse ball for self massage as well. If you are new to this, start off with a tennis ball first, it is not as aggressive.
I rated this at 4 stars because of the high price. Their products also vary with instructions depending on what kit you purchase! The bigger the kit, the more information you get. I really didn't appreciate the company basically 'holding out' on their instructional information because you didn't opt to buy their most expensive kit. Since my friend is very experience with trigger point release therapy, he basically taught me everything I needed to know. However, for those who are new to this stuff, there is a good amount of information on the web and youtube. It would be nice if Trigger Point included their DVD with all purchases! Overall, it is a good quality product and besides the aforementioned, I am happy with the product.
