Skin Prep Protective Wipes Skin-Prep is a liquid film-forming dressing that forms a protective film to help reduce friction during removal of tapes and films. Skin-Prep can also be used to prepare skin attachment sites for drainage tubes, external catheters, surrounding ostomy sites and adhesive dressings. Helps tape and film adhesion. The Skin Prep wipes are fast and easy to use, only one coat is required, so less product is used per application. Removes easily using skin cleanser or soap and water, so unsanitary residue will not be left in or around the wound area. The Skin Prep applies easily, even on awkward areas and moves naturally with patients skin. Will not crack or peel. Skin Prep wipes allow your skin to "breathe" so tapes and films adhere better. The wipes may increase intervals between dressing changes. The Protective Dressing helps to increase the adhesion of tapes and wafers. The Skin Prep also protects fragile skin and reduces adhesive removal trauma.

Really works for skin that needs to be taped Jan 13, 2012

More than a few yrs ago I had a colostomy and my skin just tore up from the tape and things. The nurses introduced me to this stuff. It protects the skin so when the tape comes off, my skin stays on my body. Recently I have this abdominal wound and a lot of tape. I forgot about it until i noticed that skin kept peeling off. Now that I have this i am so grateful. What it does is to create an invisible layer that holds the tape in place but protects the skin. Important to clean the skin before applying and reapply after washing the area - your skin will thank you. and That cringe factor when pulling off tape will calm down.

Works well for creating a film on the skin to keep the skin from getting irritated when pulling up the tape. Also helps lessen the amount of adhesive tape residue left behind on the skin.

These can be useful for small applications eg colostomies or small bandages. For skin areas larger than that I recommend the skin prep spray, it is more cost effective.

I had surgery and when I came home from the hospital, I needed to change wound dressings twice a day for two months. This required guaze and Micropore paper tape. My skin was already sensitive to the tape and without this product, I would have had some other wounds to care for. This product was absolutely necessary for me and this is a great price, much better than the surgical supply stores that I had been going to.
