Pricey, but a quality product Aug 14, 2010 The shoulder is just a difficult place ice down properly. A makeshift setup of a plastic bag filled with ice works pretty well for most other areas of the body, but keeping ice on the shoulder is unwieldy.
This shoulder wrap is a really nice product. The ice bag is high-quality, and the wrap holds it right on the shoulder where you want it. It secures the bag in place so you can walk about or work at the computer while using it. The wrap has two Velcro-secured straps, one that goes around the chest and the other around the arm. I only use the former, as it is more comfortable that way and still remains quite secure. Ice really is the best way to go and remains much colder than gel packs.
At first, it can be a little tricky to put this on by yourself. During my first attempts the ice bag would slip out of the wrap as I tried to attach the strap around the body, but it's really not that difficult once you get the swing of it and I have no problems getting it on alone.
It's a touch pricey, but this wrap really does a great job of keeping ice on the shoulder while still allowing some basic mobility and is certainly worth it compared to trying to hold a plastic bag filled with ice in the right position.
When not in use, keep the ice bag closed and leave a little water inside to keep the inner lining from drying out.
Well Built & Durable but Hard to Place On Aug 09, 2010 Hello! I bought this item for my husband after he had a shoulder injury and he uses every day after working out in order to relive pain. Here are the pros and cons:
Pro: Durable, strong, easy to fill ice pack, works perfect for the area and relives pain
Cons: the arm strap is small (so small that my husband cannot close it and he is not a big guy), hard to put on (I have to assist him to put it on every night - this will be difficult to put on if your injury/pain is extensive)
My husband is actually happy with the product because it works great and relives the pain - I am taking off 1 star because it is hard to put on.
it does what it needs to do Jun 02, 2010 I have had multiple shoulder operations over the past 14 years, so I am pretty well experienced when it comes to shoulder ice packs.
The velcro straps are a bit odd on this one compared to my others. The strap going around my arm is too tight, almost to the point where it cuts off circulation, and I have pretty skinny arms compared to most big guys. (I'm 6'4" 210lbs) So if I'm in a stationary position, I just tend to leave that strap off, that also lets the ice bag come down a bit and cover more area over the biceps and biceps tendon. The straps that goes around my back is the tightest, as I pull it all the way to the front and attach it to the other strap. The strap in front just serves as a connection point for the other one, and I let the slack just hang down off my side. I suppose they are the same size if you wanted to switch it over to the other shoulder.
My re-freezable shoulder wraps come down more over arm and biceps muscle, and seem to cover a larger area front to back of the shoulder. However, they take forever to re-freeze, and are not something I can travel with to competitions.
I got the Pro Series wrap mostly for its versatile aspect of being able to travel easily, and just stick ice in it at the hotel or wherever. It does what I need to do, stays on, and won't fall off. But I think I will stick to my re-freezable ones when I am home b/c they are a bit comfier, and cover more area. No idea what brand they are, they were given to me when I came out of surgery.

Very good for the shoulder Feb 09, 2010 I would give this shoulder strap an A-. If it weren't so hard to get on, it would get an A. But boy does it work well.

Straps too short Jan 28, 2010 Works ok, but the straps are short. It would not fit around my arm and it was very tight going around the chest. Need two People to put it on.
