The reaction is comes from mixing ammonium nitrate and water. Because of the intense cold temperature this instant ice pack achieves, users should always use a barrier such as a towel, tape or pre-wrap to protect their skin. Using the Instant Kold Pack is easy. First shake contents to the bottom of bag and locate inner pouch. Then hold pack away from yourself and others, use both hands and squeeze firmly to break the inner pouch. Next shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. It will now be cold. Wrap or cover the cold pack with a towel or other protective material. Do not apply directly to the skin as it is too cold.
