Will use this product for rest of my life! Nov 27, 2009 I have several scar adhesion problems involving joints. I use this tape on my knees when wearing new shoes, walking long distances, standing for long periods of time and when driving long distances. It helps the tissues from tightening. I also use it down my neck along my shoulder down my triceps and biceps to facilitate another scar as well. Works great. If one is going to be sweating or in damp conditions buy the waterproof tape. Also, if wearing at knee area with long pants it may get caught on the pants and roll up on itself. If possible I wear shorts otherwise I take my tape with me and re-tape the area when time is available. My physical therapists showed me how to split the tape and how to tape these areas.

fantastic relief for swelling/muscle recovery Apr 16, 2008 My chiro used this tape on my legs and knees for a chronic kneecap swelling condition caused by a car accident. I could barely walk some days before using this tape, and I use it on a regular basis when I have a flare-up. I cannot sing its praises enough! It has no chemicals or anything, no analgesics, though you can use them in combination. It enhances the conduction of your own body's natural electrical neural impulses which exist to promote healing, and the tape, when applied correctly, concentrates and directs the neural impulses to where they're most needed. I know it sounds a bit technical, but this stuff has really improved the quality of my life! It is big with sports injuries, physical therapists, etc. A couple of useful tidbits:
-Make sure you have someone show you how to use it...otherwise you won't get results and this tape is EXPENSIVE (though if it enables to you live a much higher quality of life, as it does me, it is worth every penny). Though I have yet to read one, there are booklets you can get on Amazon on the proper application of it.
-Get the water resistant kind if possible, since it lasts longer. With either kind, apply only to thoroughly dry (20 mins after shower) and totally clean skin (NO lotion, etc.), or the edges will start to peel off very quickly or just won't stick at all. Usually, it stays in place for 3-4 days, depending on various factors (perspiration, frequency of bathing/swimming, skin characteristics, etc.) Immersion (bath, pool) will make it come off more quickly. When edges start to peel back, I will snip them with scissors. This product will stay on longer when it is not being rubbed by fabric (it lasts longer on my ankle than on my knees, when I am wearing pants).
-It has a non-irritating adhesive--and believe me, I am allergic to just about everything and it doesn't bother me at all. ONLY REMOVE THE TAPE WHEN IT IS ENTIRELY DRY, never after showering or perspiring heavily, because it hurts to take it off. When dry, no problem at all, hurts less than a bandaid.
-I have arthritis in my hands: I will even cut a little 3/4 in x 1 in strip and wrap it around my pinky joint, which stops the stinging pain. Also, I have had great success with use of it on neck injuries and sprained ankles...it speeds healing and reduces swelling.
Sadly, I have been to two orthopods and at least two General Practitioner physicians who had no awareness of Kinesio tape or its use. And let's just say they weren't interested. They don't have all of the answers, and physical therapists deal with injuries every day.
So long review, people, sorry--but if this product can help even one other person as it has me, it has been worth writing and reading!
