Contour CPAP Multi-Mask Sleep Aid Pillow

CPAP Multi Mask Sleep Pillow Finally, a CPAP Pillow Mask sleep aid that addresses comfort and compliance issues for CPAP users The American Sleep Apnea Association identifies CPAP therapy as the most common treatment for sleep apnea. CPAP therapy works by preventing the airway from closing during sleep. It is administered at bedtime through a nasal or facial mask held in place by velcro straps around the patient s head. The CPAP Mask is connected by a tube to a small air compressor. The CPAP machine sends air under pressure through the tube and into the mask, where it imparts positive pressure to the upper airways, preventing the tissues in the back of the throat from collapsing during sleep. The CPAP Pillow Mask is an extremely effective form of treatment when used in compliance with doctors orders. However, non-compliance is a big issue. It has been estimated that over 65% of patients use the machine for a maximum of just 4 hours per night when it should be used for the duration of the patient s sleep. Additionally, many patients report using the CPAP for just a few nights out of the week. Discomfort is a major factor contributing to non-compliance. During side sleeping or stomach sleeping, the CPAP mask presses and rubs against the patient s face, which leads to discomfort and can also distort the mask, causing leaks and exacerbating the problem of non-compliance. The CPAP Multi Mask Pillow Improves: Mask comfort Freedom of movement during sleep Multi-position sleeping for side, back and stomach sleepers Neck support and spinal alignment The CPAP Multi Mask Pillow Reduces: Mask leaks Mask pressure on face Airway resistance due to better neck support. Note: Pillows are not returnable once removed from sealed packaging.

  • Patented hollow areas alleviate mask pressure, improve comfort and help prevent mask leaks

  • Dual cutout design accommodates the mask, allowing comfortable left or right side sleeping without compromising CPAP compliance

  • Contoured shape supports your head and neck and aligns your spine the way nature intended

  • High quality medical grade foam is cushiony, yet holds its shape to prevent edge collapse, maintaining the hollowed-out mask area

5This thing actually works  May 08, 2008
By Stephen
As a user of a CPAP machine, I have spent my evenings trying to adjust and configure pillows so that I can wear the face mask with some semblance of comfort, with little success. I took a chance on this sleep pillow and I have to say it works great! Not only does it nicely accomodate the shape shape of the mask, the neck support is a real added value. I did not have any of the problems noted in the other review.

1Doesn't live up to the hype  Apr 28, 2008
By Robert W. Henderson
I use the full face mask shown in the picture in the Amazon ad.
Unfortunately, due to the design of this pillow, the upper mask clip is wedged between the pillow and the side of the head in use. There is a lot of discomfort and because of the side pressure on the mask, a lot of leaks. I tried it for two nights and gave up because I couldn't sleep more than a half hour at a time without having to shift position to ease the discomfort or stop a leak.

According to the company's return policy, hygiene law prohibit them accepting returns or giving refunds on pillows.

This product is unusable and I'm out $50.

1Not For Me  Jun 23, 2008
By Tom Perkins
For a few nights I was pleased with this pillow. I am happy with most changes that alleviate the discomfort of the CPAP mask attachment. Then it became awkward. The indent is on both sides which leaves little real pillow to rest a head on. The indent did not well accommodate my ResMed CPAP (large). After a couple of weeks I went back to a regular pillow. Something like this fancy pillow could be a godsend for CPAP users but it needs to be designed properly. Maybe there should be versions for light heads and for heavy. Also the double cut-out should be rethought -- a person can easily turn a pillow over to suit the side he or she sleeps on. The diagram in the advertisement is clever and pretty but in fact the pillow feels very ordinary to this sleeper.

3CPAP Pillow  Mar 30, 2008
By Deb Montavon "Still restless in ABQ"
The picture makes the pillow look much more sophisticated than it really is. It is very light weight. However, it doesn't give a lot of support to the neck that one might think looking at the picture. Is it better than a regular pillow? Absolutely. Is it the perfect solution for small necked and small faced people. No. Like most CPAP accessories, it appears to be made more for larger people.
