My daughter has weak ankles and this product produces the desired result: no futher injuries. It was a little difficult to know if the size ordered was the size needed, but she was able to compensate for the wee bit larger size than needed by putting on an extra sock.

I purchased this brace specifically for basketball. After about 4 months with it, I haven't twisted or tweaked my ankle once. Only complaint is that you need to have plenty of room in your shoe to accommodate the brace. You may want to go up half a size if your shoes fits a bit snug.

This brace is the best I have ever had and, to date, I have purcased three. It provides excellent support for my arthritic ankle and allows me to walk and even hike. It is an excellent option to having my ankle "fused"--which has been recommended to me by 4 separate orthopedists. The stabilizer inserts, together with the friction lacing mechanism are key to its effectivness. Lace it up and it stays laced. It is also comfortable and fits my shoes. It washes well too!

I have super weak ankles after many, many twists and sprains playing all sorts of different sports. Without this Swede-o brace, I wouldn't be able to play sports at all any more. I love this particular variety because there are removable plastic inserts for both the inside and outside of the ankle. I only need support on the outside, so I remove the interior insert and hang onto it -- after several months of use, the insert usually breaks, and I replace it with the one I'd removed earlier. Or, if I was relatively fresh off an ankle injury, I'd double up the exterior inserts for added support.
They're NOT very pretty, but at least now I've discovered the black brace, which is a little cooler than the white one I used to wear.
I've tried other ankle support options over the years. Athletic tape can be great, or not, depending on how skilled your taper is. Even the best tape job is no better than this brace, I've found, and takes a lot more time and patience to apply. I notice many people wearing and loving Active Ankle braces, and they do look cooler than this model, but I found those held my ankles TOO rigid, and ended up causing me knee pain and misalignment issues. I've always gone back to the Swede-o, and I've never, ever once sprained my ankle while wearing it or felt let down by it.
One negative vs. other options like tape or the Active Ankle is that this brace WILL chafe your skin for the first several uses, especially right along the top edge of the brace. I wear my normal athletic socks, and put on top of those a thin-ish, mid-calf "dress" type sock, a cotton/polyester blend, and put my Swede-o on over that. If you play soccer and need to fit your long socks on top of all that, you might need to purchase larger cleats to accommodate.
All in all, an absolute life-saver of a product. I'm so grateful they're still in business after all these years.

I use this brace to support my ankle during everyday use and it does a great job. You need to pay close attention to the instructions on how to lace it up and make sure your foot is flat on the floor when lacing it up. when sizing, if you are right on the line between two sizes you will probably want to go with the smaller unit as the goal is to make it tight. I do not use the inserts unless I'm in pretty intense activities or sports. I've got the black one, but I'm also going to order this same brace in white to wear with white shoes and socks.
